Wolves captain joins Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal for club record £47m

Rúben Diogo da Silva Neves (born 13 March 1997) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder at Wolverhampton Wanderers  in England and the Portugal national team

Neves started his career with FC Porto and made his first-team debut at the age of 17.  

  Rúben Neves  is a a deep lying playmaker. Neves has mastered the art of simplicity while retaining his magician's touch. Although his stardom rests on his long-range goals, it's his water-like ability to slot into any role or system that makes him special. 

Official, confirmed. Rúben Neves has joins Al Hilal on a permanent deal from Wolves for €55m fee, record sale for English club. Neves has signed as Al Hilal player until June 2026.     

During his time at the West Midlands club, Neves made 253 appearances, scoring 30 goals.   

Neves is the latest big-name player to leave a European club for Saudi Arabia's Pro League.

Earlier this month Karim Benzema left Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad, joining former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo who signed for Al-Nassr in January.

Midfielder N'Golo Kante agreed a deal to leave Chelsea and join France team-mate Benzema at Al-Ittihad earlier this week.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is also close to signing for Saudi Pro-League side Al Ahli while Manchester City's Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva is a target for Al-Hilal.
